HELP, WITHOUT SHARING YOUR SECRETS
Lockleaf Support
A clear next step for your photos, your keys and your private space.
Version 1.0 is available on the App Store. This page previews the 1.1 upgrade; new features apply after that update becomes available.

Which features are in the new version?
The encrypted vault, PIN and Face ID, albums and Pro features are available in 1.0. The redesigned library, recovery key, verified backup workflow, Recently Deleted, richer organization, private-copy sharing and share extension described here apply to the 1.1 upgrade when released. Check your installed version in Settings.
How do I unlock or change a password?
Existing four-digit PINs continue to work. New credentials use at least six less-predictable digits or a passphrase of at least ten characters. Open Security while unlocked to change credentials. Real-vault and decoy-vault password changes preserve their own content. Face ID is optional; if it is cancelled or unavailable, use your vault password. Repeated incorrect attempts cause a visible waiting period.
I forgot my password. Can you recover my photos?
If you can still unlock with your enrolled Face ID, use the app’s password-reset path. In 1.1, a recovery key saved before the problem can unlock the vault and set a new password. Keep that key outside Lockleaf. Without an available unlock method or a usable encrypted backup, the developer cannot recover your vault or supply a master key. Do not uninstall the app as a troubleshooting step.
How do encrypted backups and a new phone work?
In 1.1, open Backups in Security, choose a strong backup password and create a verified archive. Save it through Files to a location you control, such as iCloud Drive or external storage. On the new installation, create and unlock a vault, choose the archive, enter its backup password and inspect the verified preview before merging. Existing files remain; exact duplicates are skipped. A completed local verification does not prove that a Files provider has finished uploading the saved file—check the saved copy and keep another copy for important content.
Is a recovery key the same as a backup password?
No. A recovery key opens the vault whose recovery wrapper was created for that key. A backup password opens its exported archive. Restoring purchases only restores eligible App Store entitlements; it does not restore photos. Rotating a recovery key or changing a vault password does not change passwords on older backups. We cannot reset a forgotten backup password.
Why is an import waiting or incomplete?
An iCloud original may still need to download, a file may be unreadable, or the device may lack space. Keep the app open while importing, check the per-item result and retry failed items. Cancellation does not report unfinished files as saved. Exact resource matches are detected as duplicates. Only consider removing source files after the app verifies they are safely stored; a separate Photos confirmation controls deletion from the system library.
How do I restore a deleted item?
In 1.1, open Recently Deleted in Security. Items stay encrypted for 30 days and can be restored with their album association while that album exists. Expired items are eligible for permanent cleanup the next time the vault is unlocked. Permanently deleting selected items requires confirmation and cannot be undone in the vault. Copies already saved in backups or shared elsewhere remain separate.
Will original formats and Live Photos be preserved?
Import keeps the original resource bytes, filename and available media metadata. A Live Photo needs both its still-image and paired video resources; import the complete asset from Photos to retain that pair. The viewer may show a compatible preview for a format. Use original export when you need original files, metadata, GIF animation or Live Photo resources. A prepared privacy copy is a different, deliberately flattened still image.
How do I share a more private photo?
Open a photo and choose the private-copy workflow. It creates a still JPEG up to 4096 pixels on the longest edge, removes location and camera metadata, and can flatten opaque covers and a watermark into the image. Review the result before sharing. The original is unchanged; GIF/Live Photo motion and video are not included in this edited still copy. A watermark does not prevent the recipient from copying it.
How does “Share to Lockleaf” work?
Open and unlock Lockleaf once to prepare the extension. In Photos or Files, choose Lockleaf in the iOS share sheet. Supported files are encrypted into a pending inbox. Then open Lockleaf, unlock the real vault, and select an album in Shared with Lockleaf to finish the import. The extension cannot browse your vault. Pending packages older than seven days are removed on the next cleanup. Queuing a file does not remove its source, and pending shares are not included in a vault backup.
Can I search, move or export a whole album?
In 1.1, search album names, original filenames, dates, types and tags; use favorites to narrow the library. Albums can be created and renamed without selecting a photo. Removing an album removes its organization, not the media. Multi-select actions show their selection scope and count. Original export keeps available filenames and resource relationships; take care with readable files saved outside the vault. Exporting existing content does not require an active Pro subscription.
How do I restore Pro or manage a subscription?
Use Restore Purchases in the Pro or Security screen with the Apple Account used to buy. A pending purchase may still need approval; cancelling a purchase does not charge it through Lockleaf. The app shows the current regional prices, billing periods and your available purchase options. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple’s account settings; a lifetime purchase is a separate non-renewing option. Apple handles payment, refunds and purchase eligibility.
Can I check the library without changing it?
The 1.1 Security center includes a read-only integrity check for missing or damaged resources. Keep your encrypted backups if a problem is reported. Avoid repeated reinstalls, deleting app folders or replacing vault files. Contact support with the error text and general device details, without sending private media or keys.
