ZenLevel Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 12, 2026
Overview
ZenLevel (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is a precision inclinometer for iPhone that uses the device's motion sensors to measure surface and wall angles. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly how ZenLevel handles information.
Data Collection
ZenLevel does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Specifically:
- No user accounts, registration, or sign-in of any kind
- No collection of personally identifiable information
- No behavioral tracking or usage analytics
- No third-party analytics, crash reporting, or measurement SDKs
- No advertising, ad networks, or ad tracking
- No network requests — ZenLevel works completely offline
Motion Sensor Data
ZenLevel reads your device's motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to calculate inclination angles. This is the app's core functionality and is explicitly disclosed via iOS when you first launch the app.
All sensor data is processed entirely on-device, in memory, at 60 Hz. Raw motion data is never stored, cached, transmitted, or shared with any party.
iOS will prompt you for motion permission on first launch. You can revoke this permission at any time via iOS Settings → ZenLevel → Motion & Fitness.
Local Storage
ZenLevel stores two kinds of data locally on your device. Both live inside the app's sandboxed container and are never accessible to other apps, to ZenLevel's developers, or to any third party.
- Calibration offsets: A few numeric values (pitch offset, roll offset, long-edge offset, last-calibrated timestamp) stored in UserDefaults so your sensor calibration persists across app launches. These values are declared in our Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) under Apple's Required Reason API category CA92.1.
- Saved measurements: The measurements you explicitly save by tapping LOCK MEASUREMENT. Stored via Apple's SwiftData framework in the app's private container. Each measurement includes the angle reading, timestamp, mode (SURFACE or PLUMB), and your optional note.
You can delete both types of data at any time:
- Settings → Clear all history — permanently deletes every saved measurement
- Settings → Reset calibration — restores sensor to factory defaults
- Uninstalling the app removes all stored data with no residue
Network Communication
ZenLevel does not require an internet connection and does not make network requests of any kind. Specifically, ZenLevel will not:
- Connect to any remote server
- Send any data over the network
- Download any content or updates beyond App Store updates delivered by iOS
- Communicate with any third-party service
- Sync data to iCloud, Dropbox, or any cloud provider
Third-Party Services and SDKs
ZenLevel bundles no third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporters. The app uses only Apple's built-in system frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, CoreMotion, UIKit, Foundation). You can verify this by inspecting the shipped .app bundle — it contains no external dependencies.
Apple Privacy Manifest
ZenLevel ships with an Apple PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest declaring our single Required Reason API use (UserDefaults access with reason CA92.1 — "access user defaults to read/write information that is only accessible to the app itself"). The manifest also explicitly declares no tracking, no tracking domains, and no collected data types.
Data Security
Because ZenLevel doesn't collect or transmit any data, there is no server to breach and no network traffic to intercept. Your calibration and measurement history live entirely inside iOS's app sandbox, protected by the same cryptographic mechanisms iOS uses for every other app's private data.
Children's Privacy
ZenLevel is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone of any age, it complies with COPPA by design.
Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top. Because ZenLevel doesn't know who you are, we can't notify you directly — please check back if you're interested in tracking changes.

Your Rights
Because ZenLevel collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You have full control over your own data via the in-app Settings screen (Clear all history / Reset calibration) or by uninstalling the app, which removes all stored data with no residue.
