FileTwin (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is a macOS application for finding and managing duplicate files. We highly value your privacy, and this privacy policy is intended to explain how we handle your information.
Information Collection
The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or user data. Specifically:
- The App does not require user registration or login
- The App does not collect any personally identifiable information
- The App does not track user behavior or usage habits
- The App does not use any analytics or tracking tools
- The App does not contain any advertisements or ad tracking
Local Data Processing
All features of the App are completed locally on your device:
- File Scanning: The App only scans folders you explicitly select, and the scanning process is entirely local
- Hash Calculation: MD5 hash calculations are performed entirely on your device and are not uploaded to any server
- Scan Results: All scan results are stored only in your device's memory and are cleared when the app closes
- File Deletion: When you choose to delete files, they are moved to the system trash, where you decide whether to permanently delete them
File System Access
The App needs access to your file system to perform its core functions. These permissions are used as follows:
- Read Permission: Used to scan folders, read file contents for hash calculation, and get file metadata (such as filename, size, modification date)
- Write Permission: Used only to delete duplicate files you select
The App only accesses folders you explicitly select through the system file picker and does not access any other locations.
Network Communication
The App does not require an internet connection to function. The App will not:
- Connect to any remote server
- Send any data to the internet
- Download any content from the internet
- Communicate with any third-party services
Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics tools. Your data remains entirely on your device.
Data Security
Since the App does not collect or transmit any data, your file information is always securely stored on your device. We recommend regularly backing up important files and carefully confirming before deleting any files.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. Since the App does not collect any personal information, there are no special considerations regarding children's privacy.
